In the United States, Toyota has announced a recall<\/em> which affects more than half a million vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has identified a flaw in the dashboard display, which can fail to show essential information such as vehicle speed, brake system status and tire pressure warnings - a defect that poses a high risk of accidents. The problem stems from a software<\/em> during vehicle start-up, which prevents the instrument panel from correctly displaying critical notifications.
