Singapore Government Offers Prizes for Finding Bugs in its Critical Systems

One "hacker white hat" with skills that can help him find vulnerabilities in critical government systems could be paid up to $150,000 in Singapore.

Offered by GovTech., this Vulnerability Rewards Program is the latest bug busting project that aims to attract ethical hackers who help organizations find flaws in computer systems so that they can be properly fixed.

 

A reward ranging from $250 to $5,000 will be given to the majority of those who find regular vulnerabilities, however, depending on the severity of the problem found this amount may vary. A special reward of $150,000 will be given to those who find weaknesses that have exceptional impact.

 

Previously, the Singapore government had two other bounty programs that offered monetary prizes or even reputation points at HackerOnea cybersecurity company that coordinates these bounties for bug hunters.

 

The latest program, in addition to the two already running, will focus on specific critical Internet-facing systems and is aimed at those who have achieved the status of HackerOne Clearstatus, as well as guest hackers.

The first systems that will be asked to be hacked will be the Singpass and Corppass from GovTech; the electronic services of the members of the Central Provident Council and the Workpass system of the Ministry of Workforce.

 

Only "white hathackers " who meet the strict criteria of the HackerOne will be allowed to participate, will be connected via a virtual private network (VPN) gateway, developed and provided by HackerOneand must abide by its rules of engagement.
